This two-part course seeks to explore issues around gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation, and how these can impact on our mental health. This course is suitable for everyone wishing to consider these issues in a supportive group, however they describe their own identity.

Course learning outcomes:

  • Gain a greater understanding of how we talk about gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation
  • Consider how we create a sense of identity
  • Explore how our sense of identity, including our gender expression and identity and our sexuality, can impact on our mental health
  • Learn about other’s experiences in creating their own identity and managing their mental health
  • Gain a greater understanding of how stigma and discrimination have arisen, and ways to overcome them
  • Find out about support services available
