Our Food Memoir Writing course supports students to write a short memoir about a favourite meal or recipe. Memoir writing helps us process and gain a new perspective on past events. It also helps us to build a stronger sense of self-identity, and a sense of identity is a key element in recovery.

Please note: this course involves talking about our relationship to food which can bring up strong emotions. This is a three-part course and students will be invited to share a written memoir with the group if they would like to.

Course learning outcomes – by the end of this course, all students will:

    •  Have the opportunity to write a short food memoir
    • Explore reminiscence and why it is good for our mental health
    • Explore some techniques to write vividly
    • Be introduced to “Recipes for Life”
